Majsa Sweater

ABOUT MAJSA:

Majsa is a beginner friendly, oversized sweater. The sweater is worked in a simple lace pattern, using common and easy knitting techniques. The loose and boxy fit suits all body types. Easy to wear alone or layered. Majsa is a non-seasonal sweater that can be worn all year long.

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS: 

Length (measured at the center back below the the neck rib: 56 (60) 64 cm [22 (23.5) 25in]

Sweater circumference: 110 (130) 150 cm [43.5 (51) 59 in]

SIZE GUIDE:

Majsa is designed to be an oversized fit. When you are choosing which size to knit, measure your bust circumference and add a positive ease of approx. 20-30cm [8-12 in] to that number. This will determine your size for the sweater.

The sizes 1 (2) 3 are equivalent to sizes S-M (L-XL) XXLXXXL. They correspond to the chest measurements of approx. 80-90 (100-110) 120-130 [31.5-35.5 (39.5-43.5) 47.25-51 in] 

MATERIALS:

500 (600) 700 g. Peruvian Highland Wool, Filcolana, 100 m / 50 g.

Yarn category: 4: Medium // Worsted // WPI 10

You may substitute the wool with cotton. The cropped cotton version uses Petunia, Rauma Garn, 110 m / 50 g.

ADDITIONAL: 

- Spare cable or scrap yarn to hold resting stitches

- Stitch markers 

GAUGE:

In Stockinette using 4.5mm [US7] needles. 17 sts / 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in]

SUGGESTED NEEDLES:

4.5 mm [US7] circular needles (40, 60 & 80 cm [16, 24 & 32 in])

Note: The given needle size is only a suggestion. It is important to make a test swatch before you begin, to make sure you have the correct gauge. Otherwise the proportions of the sweater might turn out wrong. Change the needle size if needed to obtain the given gauge.

WORKFLOW:

Majsa is worked top down. The back and the front parts are worked separately back and forth using circular needles.

First work the back, then work the shoulders one by one and then join to work the front.

Once the front and the back are done, they are joined from the underarms and the body is worked in the round.

New stitches will be picked up for the sleeves and they will be worked identically one by one in the round.

Finally to finish, new stitches will be picked up for the neck the same way as for the sleeves.
