Fancy a little sparkle? Want to amp up your flare game? You got the right pattern! The Copenhagen pants, as the name suggests, get their inspiration from the bold and the colourful fashion from the streets of Copenhagen. The stylish Copenhageners are not afraid to make a statement with their clothes, and clearly neither are you!

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS:

Model wears size 3 with 16 cm [6.25 in] of negative ease to waist circumference. The sample pants are knitted in 32 inch length. The model is 174 cm [5’9’’] tall.

 

SIZE GUIDE:

Recommended ease: Approximately 15 cm [6 in] of negative ease 

When choosing which size to knit, measure your waist circumference and deduct a negative ease of 15 cm [6 in] from that number. Compare your result with the garment measurements and choose the closest size. If you fall between sizes, sizing down is recommended, as knitted pants tend to loosen up in use.

The sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) 9 are equivalent to sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL. They correspond to the waist circumference of approximately 61 (65) 76 (85) 95 (105) 112 (117) 127 cm [24 (26) 30 (34) 38 (42) 44 (46) 50 in].

Info: The estimated yarn consumption is calculated according to 32 inch length and includes enough yarn for an additional 20 x 20 cm [8 x 8 in] gauge swatch. If you make your pants shorter (28, 30 inches) or longer (34 inches) the overall consumption can vary.

 

SUGGESTED NEEDLES:

6 mm [US 10] / 60-80 cm [24-32 in] circular needles

6 mm [US J-10] crochet hook 

Same size or smaller circular needle in the same length for the provisional crochet cast on 

 

GAUGE:

Flat in stockinette stitch using 6 mm [US 10] needles: 17 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in]

If you tend to have large differences in your knitting tension between flat vs round, it is smart to work a test swatch also in the round and adjust the needle size if needed to keep the gauge consistent.

 

ADDITIONAL: 

- Stitch markers (2)

- 30 mm [1.2 in] Elastic band

- Sewing needle and sewing thread

- Scrap yarn for the provisional cast on and holding stitches

- Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

- Measuring tape

WORKFLOW:

The Copenhagen pants are worked from top down, in the round, with circular needles.

You will start by working the waistband.

From there, you will increase stitches towards the hips and once you reach the correct length, the stitches are divided into two legs and new stitches will be casted on for the crotch seam.

The legs are worked in the round, separately. You will leave half of the stitches for the other leg on hold, while working the first one.

You will then get the stitches from hold, pick up and knit stitches from the crotch seam and work the second leg identically to the first one.
