ABOUT PATTERN:

Lover mittens are a combination of regular mittens and fingerless mittens. They are worked with two different stitch patterns. The stretchy wrists are worked in 1:1 rib (k1, p1) and the rest of the mittens are worked in Broken rib stitch. The Broken rib stitch is a very simple two row pattern repeat: Row 1: K Row 2: K 1, p1.

Level of difficulty: Intermediate

SIZES:

One size with adjustable length

SIZE GUIDE:

The base of the mitten is the same for all sizes, but as everyone's hands are different, you are required to try on the mittens as you go to make sure you are making the right length for yourself.

SUGGESTED YARN:

45-60 g Fine Merino, Majo Garn, 175 m = 50 g

Yarn categroy: 2: Fine / Sport / 14 WPI

Held together with...

20-25 g Pearl Mohair, Majo Garn, 210 m = 25 g

Yarn category: Lace: 0

GAUGE:

23 sts x 35 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in broken rib stitch

SUGGESTED NEEDLES:

3 mm [US 2.5] / double pointed needles (set of 5)

ADDITIONAL:

- 2 stitch markers

- Tapestry needle

- Measuring tape or ruler

- 2 safety pins (optional)

WORKFLOW:

The mittens are worked bottom up, in the round, using double pointed needles.

Both mittens are worked identically, except the thumb increases. They are referred to as LEFT HAND and RIGHT HAND.

Follow the instructions based on the hand you are currently working on.

You will start by casting on for the wrist and working the ribbed cuffs.

From there you will shape the mittens up to the thumb, separate the thumb stitches and work slightly over the fingers, until you will bind off.

Next, you will pick up stitches around the mittens, and cast on some new stitches for working the finger cap.

Lastly, you will pick up stitches around the thumb opening and work the thumbs.

Enjoy this pattern and happy knitting!
