ABOUT PATTERN:

High waisted cashmere bloomers, inspired by babies, designed for adults. Elastic waistband and drawstring closure. Ruffle details at both leg openings. The perfect pair of underwear for comfortable lounging.

SIZE GUIDE:

Tekla bloomers are designed to have zero ease for a fitted look without feeling tight. Your waist circumference will determine the size for the pants. Scale down, if you're in between sizes.

The sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) 9 are equivalent to sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL. They correspond to waist measurements of approximately 58.5-61 (63.5-67.5) 71-76 (81.5-86.5) 91.5-96.5 (101.5-106.5) 111.5-114 (116.5-119) 124-127 cm [23-24 (25-26.5) 28-30 (32- 34) 36-38 (40-42) 44-45 (46-47) 49-50 in]

SUGGESTED YARN:

Approx. 100 (100) 125 (125) 150 (200) 200 (225) 250g Superior Cashmere, Pamir Fine Fibers, 105 m / 25 g

Note: My test knitters used different yarn weights from Light Fingering to DK and ended up within +/- 20 g from the estimation.

GAUGE:

In Stockinette using 3.5mm [US 4] needles. 25 sts / 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] Worked in flat and measured after blocking

SUGGESTED NEEDLES:

3.5mm [US 4] circular needles / 60cm [24 in] or longer 2 x 3.5mm [US 4] double pointed needles for the I-cord strap Crochet hook of similar size for the provisional cast on Note: The given needle size is only a suggestion. It is important to make a test swatch before you begin to make sure you meet the gauge. Change the needle size if needed.

ADDITIONAL: 

- Extra circular needle in similar size to your knitting needle for picking up stitches from the provisional cast on

- 0.5-1.5cm [0.2-0.6 in] wide elastic band for the waist, sewing needle and a length of sewing thread

- Length of scrap yarn for the provisional cast-on

- Two stitch markers

- Stitch holder or scrap yarn

- Safety pin

- Tapestry needle 

WORKFLOW:

Tekla Bloomers are worked from top down, mostly in the round, on circular needles.

You will start by constructing the waistband and proceed knitting from the waist down while increasing.

From there the front and back are separated and shaped one by one and then grafted back together.

Stitches will be picked up from the leg openings to add the ruffles.
